“we need more experts turning their attention to the needs of adults on the spectrum.”

What I found most beneficial about Dr. Lane’s presentation was how it engaged teachers, parents, and adults with autism in an honest conversation about how improving communication can enhance quality of life for adults on the spectrum. The fact that he answered all of the "why" questions was fantastic. It isn't enough to just tell someone with autism that they need to communicate better. They need to understand the "why" as that's what truly leads to the motivation to work harder to be a better communicator.

Yes, I would highly recommend this presentation to others. I was very proud to host this workshop and hope that we can do it again. Often times presentations are geared toward teachers or parents working with children on the spectrum. Autism doesn't stop when someone turns 18-years-old and I think we need more experts turning their attention to the needs of adults on the spectrum.

The presentation was an excellent conversation starter at a recent board meeting. Sharing with the board how engaged the participants were in the conversation was a highlighted mission in action moment for our team. It was a reminder of why we push through the hard times of being a start up nonprofit serving adults with autism. It reminded us all that we are all in this to see those light bulb moments when something clicks and our program participants see a glimmer of hope that their challenges are not insurmountable.

I was so impressed with how he connected with one student in particular during the presentation. I know that Dr. Lane’s presentation really provided him with hope that it is possible to overcome his communication challenges and reach his goals.

Stop Being Invisible will become a must-read for all of our participants in the program moving forward. We will use the book in the classroom to start the conversation on the importance of communication and then we will practice the skills when we go out into the community to speak about autism awareness and the importance of sustainability.
